Britta Gundersen grew up in Seattle, Washington, with the Cascade Mountains to the east and the Olympic Mountains to the west. In addition, she has lived, worked or studied in eastern Washington State, Hawaii, Washington, D.C., Australia, Jamaica, Zimbabwe and the Canadian provinces of Saskatchewan, Alberta, Ontario, Quebec and British Columbia.
She now resides in Victoria, B.C.’s James Bay neighbourhood, on the traditional lands of the Lekwungen speaking people, today’s Songhees and Esquimalt First Nations.
Britta’s writing is informed by her global experiences and by human interactions across boundaries, cultures and time. Much of her current work is inspired by the history and geography of Victoria and Quebec City, Canada’s two most iconic cities.
Britta’s work has been published by the Victoria Historical Society, British Columbia History Federation, Literary and Historical Society of Quebec and has appeared in Quebec City’s Chronicle-Telegraph as well as Island Writer, the literary journal of the Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands. She also writes under her full name, Britta Gundersen-Bryden.
